Multiuser Flex and Streaming Media with Adobe Flash Media Server

Level Intermediate Time 3:45 - 5:15 Room CG1034 Speaker Zach Stepek
Description

There are people out there who think all that Flash is for is video on the web, and for good reason. Most video viewed online is being viewed through Flash Player. In the first half of this session, you'll learn the differences between progressive download and streaming video and build a complete custom video player, all in under 100 lines of code. We'll also discuss live streaming and adaptive streaming with Synx 1.5.

Social. It's a big buzzword in our industry right now, and there are easy ways to integrate multi-user features into your Flex application to take advantage of that trend. Using the open source Synx Platform for Flash Media Server, you can build connected applications more easily than ever before. All you need is a Flash Media Server and a little bit of ActionScript. During the second half of this session, we'll create a multi-user chat application with the new UserController features in Synx 1.5.

  • Flash Builder 4 (or Flex Builder 3).
  • The SynxPlatform SWC (http://www.synxplatform.com/?page_id=10)
